My simple solution to run at boot (Ubuntu 12.04)
« on: September 05, 2012, 03:58:08 pm »
I'm posting this because I tried to follow the guide http://www.havetheknowhow.com/Configure-the-server/Run-FlexRAID-on-boot.html and found it confusing and potentially unnecessary. I am running a headless machine that will be turned on during the day and then off at night, so I needed to have FR to launch without any interaction from me. Please note that I am a Linux noob, so if my solution is bad by all means please let me know. It appears to be significantly more user-friendly than the above guide.

1. Go to ~/.config/autostart

2. Create a file called FlexRAID.sh and open it

3. Type these 2 lines:
Code: [Select]
cd /var/lib/flexraid
./FlexRAID &
(note you might need to change the first line to whatever your install directory is)

4. Save & close, make the file executable

5. Open the Startup Applications window, hit add, select your FlexRAID.sh file

6. Make sure your pool is set to mount when the FlexRAID service starts (see Part 4:http://wiki.flexraid.com/2011/12/03/getting-started-creating-your-first-flexraid-configuration/)
