FR only sees boot drive
« on: September 10, 2012, 03:41:41 pm »
I'm running FlexRAID on Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit. The boot drive (/dev/sda) is on IDE1. However, all of the drives that I want to add to the pool are on the SATA channels (/dev/sdb, sdc, sdd). FR's Drive Manager can see sda, but none of the other drives appear. I've read some of the other topics about drives not appearing, and I've made sure to enter the sudo password in the control panel and make sure that the root account is enabled.

What else can I try?

You need to partition and format the drives.

They are all partitioned and formatted ext4 just like the boot drive.

Hi,
Have you mounted the drives?
I think you need to do that in Linux. But I am not shure, some time since I used flexraid under linux.

Also keep in mind that once you have set up your FlexRAID configuration you do not need to fstab mount the drives anymore, you can comment them out of your fstab file.

Keeping them mounted won't hurt anything but you will notice in your pool configuration window that the drives show up twice (as both being in the pool and not in the pool).
