Install and configure the trial- then buy
« on: February 23, 2013, 03:21:02 am »
The cost of a license is reasonable so I bought first, but was never able to get it configured.

If you get FlexRAID working, congratulations. I had ZFS working and there are many drawbacks: not able to add disks, all disks spinning to access one file, not able to use filled disks, FlexRAID to the rescue. I am a linux newbie but not a newbie to computers. I was able to get it installed and launching on startup, but then I wasn't able to do a snapshot. The guide I had here may just prove to frustrate others as something obviously wasn't configured correctly.

I didn't reach out much to the forum for help, so may you all fair better than me. Seems like the dev is active here and willing to help.

I like the idea of creating a script to automate these installation profiles.
Clearly, different users will want different things, but if you can script different configurations, that will help others.

By default FlexRAID install very easily. Just execute the bin and accept the defaults.
