Trial request pre-registration failure OpenSUSE 12.1
« on: March 09, 2013, 09:09:38 pm »
Not able to request a trial of FlexRAID on my OpenSUSE 12.1 installation, very same problem as others in this thread

http://forum.flexraid.com/index.php/topic,876.0.html

Have tried the following:
  • Installing / running FlexRAID as root (logged in as root, not using Sudo). Web GUI still asks for Sudo password when I click on request trial.
  • Adding /sbin:/usr/sbin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/bin:/bin to $PATH for all users (added export PATH=$PATH:/sbin:/usr/sbin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/bin:/bin into /etc/profile.local

I'm completely lost as to what to try next, I can't get past the "Trial request pre-registration failure" message after entering the Sudo password after clicking on the request.

Nothing appears on /tmp/FlexRAID.log after the initial startup

I have an HP ProLiant MicroServer N40L, with the OS installed on a USB flash drive. I haven't finalized my drive setup yet, was hoping to get the trial going so I could experiment. Right now I have a 2TB USB drive with all my data on it and a new 3TB WD SATA drive formatted ext4, with a second on the way soon. I was originally going to do a RAID1 with the two 3TB drives and use the 2TB to backup data using rsync snapshot until my data outgrows this setup. But I decided to check out Flexraid as an alternative.

Is more information on my system required? I'm not sure what else you would need, can you be more specific?

Due to other priorities, I am afraid I won't be able to assist here.
There is no doubt that the full license will work with your setup, but the trial activation uses a different approach, which I just can't troubleshoot right now.

You could try something, what happens if you open a terminal and you do the following:

su root and enter your root password
sudo echo "This a test to check if sudo works"

This way we'll now if sudo works on your system.
