SQL Server 2012
« on: March 19, 2013, 06:50:56 pm »
currently building a box to host our SQL Server database.  Quad core server, 8 GB RAM, running Windows7 with SQL Server 2012, boot drive will be a single SSD, and plan on mirroring 2 SSDs for the SQL Database.

Started looking at FlexRAID due to Windows7 software RAIDs lack of notifications of drive failures.

I am only concerned with the Data redundancy (mirroring) to prevent downtime in a drive failure (will have a separate backup as well), and notifications, and of course performance.  I figured Real-Time RAID is what I want, but dont know much about the other FlexRAID options

questions:
is anyone using FlexRaid with SQL Server?
will there be any performance issues?
any suggestions on the best FlexRaid setup?

Do not put database files on FlexRAID whether Snapshot or Real-Time.
Databases are the one thing FlexRAID is not suited for.
