Flexraid and Power Up In Standby
« on: May 08, 2013, 06:09:38 am »
hi!
i read about Power Up In standby function of hard disks, that permit to power on a drive only when is requested from the operating system.
i would like to know if this feature and flexraid working well together or if there are problems, or if can be introduced a new feature in flexraid that permit to power on an hard disk only when necessary, so the start up of a system will be faster and require less power energy from psu

FlexRAID does not explicitly control spin-up and spin-down.
This is handled by OS and disk firmware.

FlexRAID tries to access disks the least possible.
Keeping similar data (and folders) on same disk definitely helps, as disks that don't contain folder structures you need to browse, don't spin up.
(or shouldn't)
