Seeing corresponding physical disk info with registered disk
« on: August 02, 2013, 12:47:53 pm »
Is there any way after registering the physical disks to see what registered disk corresponds with what physical disk?

I think if you gave them names that make sense.  Or perhaps name them after the serial number, then you can compare.

I am with you, but Brahim has his reasons for not doing it.

Yeah, I have names and made a file with a corresponding key, but it would have been nice.
I noticed however, that the drive label is retained when the RAID is initialized .. so that was a big plus.

Now, I name them Disk1, Disk2, Disk3 just like the Windows Disk Management UI.

But I would vote on this feature (as said in another post) as I could then just name them "X-Y" where X, Y is the location (row, column) in my case.
I like indeed to know "where" is a disk in the case (for replacement purpose ;) )

I suggested to add a node bellow each "Registered disk" with its "Physical Drive" info (very same text as displayed in the "Physical Drives" list.

Actually that brings up another question. What happen if you swap drive positions in the array? Will tRAID still link the right drive? Or will it drop both drives?

...I could try it but I don't really want to do a verify and sync right now.

The "Open/View Detail" menu will provide detail information about the registered disk and its underlying physical disk when implemented.
So, nothing will be show under its node.
