Wanted: Screenshots of your tRAID config and/or box
« on: October 09, 2013, 02:29:04 pm »
All, I am in the process of redesigning the FlexRAID website and would like screenshots of your tRAID configuration and possible pictures of your boxes.

For the screenshots, installation screens, various UI panels, dashboard with charts, etc. would be awesome.

Thanks.

Picture of my box and the screen shot of the developing tRAID.

Only a 8 of these disks are for the tRAID. Five of them are actually part of the tRAID and three are awaiting integration. I am doing it a disk at a time because there have been problems with stability.

Eight of the drives are for an Areca-based RAID-6 array. A few drives are for other reasons. Two Drobo NAS boxes in the background. One of these days, when tRAID is mature and does not generate errors aplenty, I may phase it in as my primary storage. These errors may not be tRAID's fault as it could be hardware but every other diagnostic I have run shows the drives good.

The mobo is an ASUS P6T6 Revolution with a Xeon quadcore and ECC memory. The tRAID drives run through a Highpoint HBA. This box exists to backup my family's primary systems and store one set of the backups. My offsite copy of these files is still running classic snapshot FlexRaid interleaved with SnapRAID. The offsite box, although very clumsy to use, has been rock solid.

Here are some screenshots.  I'll take a picture of my storage hardware and get it up here in the next couple days.

Without any "inner details" of my server (Windows Server 2012 Essential), here is how it looks in my basements...

Although I sometimes have to work there (to test cables, etc...), here is the "cockpit" :

And here are two deskewed/cropped pictures of my Server:

Very nice setup! :)
Thanks for the pics.

I still haven't had time yet to spruce the main site and add all these new setups. Nonetheless, this will be done eventually.

@djvj

1. Wow!
That's what I said when I saw the case too  ;)

2. What case is that?
http://www.45drives.com/products/ I bought just the case and opted to do all the internals myself, which saves a lot of money. For a 4RU form factor, you can't fit anymore drives than what this case holds. I got tired of buying a new case every few years as my storage requirements grew. Doing all the internals myself, this thing is silent as can be.

3. What are those backplanes?
No backplane, they are direct-wired mini-sas to sata breakout ports. An older model used backplanes, which were prone to errors and reliability problems. The 4.0 version switched to direct-wired, which is why I went this route vs a norco or other cases that utilize backplanes.
