WHS 2011 dashboard doesn't start
« on: December 09, 2011, 05:37:25 am »
I also started setting up my WHS 2011 maschine with FlexRAID some days ago (Thank's Brahim for your great efforts!).

I followed these Wiki-Guides:
"Getting Started: Creating your first FlexRAID configuration"
http://wiki.flexraid.com/2011/12/03/getting-started-creating-your-first-flexraid-configuration/

"Accessing Your Storage Pool Over a Network"
http://wiki.flexraid.com/2011/12/03/accessing-your-storage-pool-over-a-network/

The first one went quite well. After approx. 8 hours, I had my 6TB Pool installed being able to access new drive V (everything as of default).

Now I'm going to adopt it to my WHS Shared folders by the second guide, but...

... I couldn't open my Dashboard anymore. It starts and I see the splashscreen, but nothing happens - even after 2 hours. As of the taskmanager the dashboard consumes approx. 25% CPU power, but it hangs.

Unfortunately, I didn't check the dashbaord directly before I installed FelxRAID, so I couldn't be 100% sure FR causes the problem. But I never had any problems with the Dashboard.

Could you help me identifying what causes the Dashboard not to function?

Thanks upfront for your help ;-)

That would certainly not be related to FlexRAID.
FlexRAID is not a plugin and does not alter the Dashboard in any shape or form.

See: http://www.openegg.org/2011/10/18/flexraid-drive-pool-and-raid-for-whs-2011-spoilers/

FlexRAID provides the cleanest integration into WHS 2011 out of all solutions out there.

FlexRAID requires no plugin and presents its Storage Pool drive as a native NTFS drive to WHS 2011.
This means you can add and manage a FlexRAID pool drive just like a regular but massive drive in WHS 2011′s dashboard.

So, remove FlexRAID and test the Dashboard without it for sanity check.
Chances are, you might just need a reboot.

I originally had included drive D into the pool. Now I detached D from the FlexRAID Pool and rebooted the Server and guess what..

it works ;-) Dashboard works and I followed the Guide to switch the shared folders.

This is interesting once my large SABnzbd download list is gone I will try putting my D: drive into my pool and see what happens.
