verify error
« on: December 25, 2011, 04:51:40 pm »
Hi,
I am new to flexRAID and I cant figure out what is wrong. I setup the Cruise-Control Real Time RIAD. Everything is working ok, but when I start the verify command I got error.

The [<[verify]>] task has successfully initiated... Process number: 6

Verify failure: bit mismatch!
At byte: 218014832...
NOTE: C:\FlexRAID-Managed-Pool\class1_0\{caaf0316-2f36-11e1-8fa4-0015f2bff92e}\Videos\The.Lincoln.Lawyer.2011.HUN.PAL.DVDR-MWT\mwt-lnclnlwyr.iso was open at the time of the failure

Buffer size: 1048576 - Number of failed bytes in buffer: 1
First failure at position: 218014832 - Last failure at position: 218014832

If I do Forced Sync Verify I don't get any error message.
There are not any open applications.
Thx,

Just I wanted to check the RAID. I wanted to see I can trust in the RAID or not.

Why did you asked that? Verify is not for verify the RAID?

@molnarzsolt
Is the failure consistent? (fails at the same bit)

One easy way to test that is to start the verify process just a few bytes before the last failure and verify a few MBs.
That is, set the Verify Start property to 218014830 and Verify  Num Of bytes to 1MB.

If the failure is not consistent or 1 byte only is always failing, then I would look into memory error or an AV intruding.
