Landing Disk?
« on: June 26, 2014, 06:06:59 pm »
Finally getting around to finishing my server this weekend. Waiting for my two new HDDs to be delivered on Saturday and I'm good to start transferring data from my old Unraid server to my new Flexraid server.
I've got a quick question though. I'll be constantly downloading large files, that I'd want written directly to the raid, but that'd mean writing to it all the time pretty much, which I'd be a little uneasy about. And I have spare 1TB and 500GB drives laying around, do you think it'd be wise to set one of them up as a cache drive?

Is this a question pertaining to transparent raid or RT Raid-F?  If its about tRaid, you might have better luck in that section.

I think OP is referring to setting up a disk outside of the RAID-F pool for use as staging disk for things such downloads and etc.
