Metadata Path
« on: August 23, 2014, 09:42:49 pm »
what is the correct way to define my metadata path to flxr.meta in windows?

am i using the drive letter defined by flexraid or am i using the actual volume path in windows?

any actual example would be appreciated.

thanks,

You need to provide more context to your question.
Screenshots might help.

It tells you on that page. You need to enter in the path to PPU2.

since the ppu is part of the array, what is the path to ppu2?

that's what i'm trying to figure out.

my array is assigned drive letter V:

flexraid has assigned a drive letter of B: to my ppu2.

in windows, the drive was mounted to empty folder C:\volumes\disk 12

it will pretty much let you put anything in the metadata field but, it doesn't tell you if it's correct.

FlexRAID does not assign drive letters to UORs. The pool on V is irrelevant as the PPUs are not in any way related to the pool. Are you using Cruise Control or Expert mode? In either case, you need to specify a path where the PPU is accessible. If you are using Expert mode, use whatever path you used to set up the array. If you are using Cruise Control, you should not have any drives assigned to drive letters, since FlexRAID "took over" your discs and has them mounted in a protected/hidden location. I'm not familiar with Cruise Control mode, but I suspect you can temporarily assign a drive letter from Windows to PPU2, give FlexRAID that drive letter, once the restoration of PPU1 is complete, delete the drive letter from PPU2 and remove the metadata path from the options. FlexRAID will revert back to PPU1.
