Unexpected content
« on: February 04, 2012, 03:54:13 am »
Hi Gents

I having trouble adding a drive to my cruise control pool/raid.

When I add it to the pool I get the error message 'ERROR: Unexpected content found at 35dac50c-25ea-4181-ac0e-39f8c37d1b82! Cannot mount C:\FlexRAID-Managed-Pool\class1_0\{35dac50c-25ea-4181-ac0e-39f8c37d1b82}'

It only happens on one drive. I tried reformatting it but still the same problem. Its the same drive that was dropping out of windows when I first inserted it but managed to scan and fix errors which seemed to solve the problem.

Any help much appreciated. Its a WD 3TB green drive.

Hum... this is a bug I will need to fix.
For now:
1. Add change permission (read/write) to C:\FlexRAID-Managed-Pool for your user account
2. Navigate to C:\FlexRAID-Managed-Pool\class1_0\{35dac50c-25ea-4181-ac0e-39f8c37d1b82} and move any content it has out
3. Remove the permission change you added

Thanks for the reply.

Is this a problem with my drive or Flexraid?

Ive also had my storage pool stop twice today. Both times I was writing 3 or so things to the pool. When I tried to restart the pool it wouldn't and I had to restart the server. The 2nd time it still wouldn't start the pool and I was told to reconcile. This didn't work so im now recreating the data.

Any advice? once the server is set up I want to be able to leave it alone and not keep resetting it when the pool stops.

I cant see a folder called flexraid managed pool on my c drive. Am i looking in the wrong place? C is my system drive.

As mentioned the storage pool isnt running, its recreating.

Thx

Any help on the above problems would be much appreciated.

Today my problem has been file transfer. After around lunch time the server decided I no longer had permission to move any files in the pool.

Another thing, it tells me I need to format V drive when I try to start the storage pool.

I have no idea why I thought using a program in beta would be a good idea. Im on the verge of buying unraid.

I restarted the server, on reboot the pool didn't start automatically and told me I needed to reconcile. That then failed telling me I was out of parity space. So I thought id just set up a simple pool in expert mode so I can still access my files on my media player. That then told me I needed to format drive V once it was created.

I appreciate you are doing a lot of work but I think you should advise people not to use flexraid until it works properly. Its listed as beta so fair enough maybe its my fault for trying it. 10 hours to recreate each time there is an error is a long time.

You will need it.
