What to do before installing new OS
« on: August 02, 2016, 05:44:35 am »
Hi,

I'm planning to reinstall Win 7 on my computer (will be moving from 32 bit win 7 to 64 bit win 7). I made a copy of a few files that I was hoping would be helpful: "Flexraid-Config", "flexraid-config.db.bak", "flexraid.txt." and "flexraid.sys.c1-1". What can I do to prepare my flexraid setup so that I do not have to recreate all my drives?

Also, will moving from 32 to 64 bit windows create a problem with my license? The hardware is the same but I did have to recreate the snapshot raid array a few weeks ago--I added a thumb drive into my computer before my external HDD came on and it caused the drive letters to change.

The only thing you need to backup are your configuration DB files. See: http://wiki.flexraid.com/2011/06/24/backing-up-and-migrating-raid-configuration-data/

What do you mean by config files as opposed to DB files?
What you should backup are the DB files.

The system will create new DB files if none are present and the UI will show no existing configuration.
