Validate / Update inconsistencies
« on: January 02, 2018, 08:39:56 am »
I'm about to upgrade to the latest version and decided to run Validate / Update before I do that. That's when I noticed inconsistencies (really haven't been paying attention to the results for quite a while now):

1. Run Validate / Quick Validate
Get a report that there are 146 new files
2. Run Update
Runs in a few minutes, reports Success (in the log), but validation that happens as a part of Update displays a message that only 1 new file is found
3. Run Validate / Quick Validate
Get the same 146 new files. Shouldn't there be 0 after Update?

I did refer to http://wiki.flexraid.com/2011/08/23/maintaining-your-snapshot-raid/ to refresh my memory about the operations.

I would appreciate any pointers here. Thanks.

I believe you are experiencing a bug that was fixed in the latest release. This relates to how exclusions were being processed differently by different tasks in some cases.

Ah, good to know. Too bad I cannot update to the latest version (due to Explicit config for storage pooling not being there).

Which task should I trust then - Update or Validate? I presume - Update?

Rebuild the parity anew if you are not going to update.
