failed disk replacement mystery!
« on: October 05, 2018, 02:48:59 am »

I ve just move all of the PC gubbins into a new case. everything went fine , but one of my disks has failed. Its not surprising really it is 7 years old.

I followed the wiki on how to replace it with a new one but i kept getting errors, saying that the operation was unsuccessful. The new disk is showing as a DRU in place of the old one, with the old drives volume label but its information is saying that its empty......

ive verified the raid as per the instructions on the WIKI and it says that all the bits are in the right place ive also validated everything and thats ok as well.

im not sure if the lost data has been recovered to one of the smaller disks because i didnt take a not of what the capacity was for each of them. The new disk is 8Tb and replaced a 3TB one.

Am i safe? whats gone on here does anyone know?

thanks for any help.
