11 3tb data drives - how much parity space needed?

11 3tb data drives - how much parity space needed?

have WHS 2011 w 11 3tb drives,  how much parity space will this require?  data drives consist on video and audio files

if you need more in please ask.  I know little about this product but I think its exact;y what I would need

I have 6 ports on the mobo and an lsi sas/sata card using as sata

You will need just one more 3TB disk for parity.

You don't need and should not mirror the parity drive. Instead, you can have more than one parity drive for additional protection.
Since you seem to be new to RAID, I would recommend that you choose tRAID over RAID-F. Make sure to spend a good deal of time on the wiki following the tutorial trail for tRAID: http://wiki.flexraid.com/category/traid/

well, I could have done the 3tb mirror in hardware, no slowdown but a read speedup

Not needed. You will be better off with dual parity instead.
