FlexRAID RAID-F + storage pooling
« on: September 17, 2015, 04:22:33 pm »
I bought two licenses a while ago for FlexRAID RAID-F + storage pooling;  one for windows home server 2011 and the other for a windows 7 unit that has an attached usb unit with 6 drives.  The WHS serves as a movie storage unit and the windows 7 usb is a backup of my family photos.  I just got an email that says there is a new version out but not sure if it's an update to mine or completely new and will have to buy new licensees etc.  Or maybe they are both new software and not updates??
Thanks in advance.
Here is what I got emailed to me:
New FlexRAID RAID over File System (RAID-F) and Transparent RAID (tRAID) releases are now available with important new features and fixes.

@Riker0007
You do not have to buy new licenses even though these are major feature updates.
So, feel free to update your installations. :)

Thanks for that and the reply, just which one do I download to update.
Btw, I had a hard drive die and was able to restore everything perfect the other day.  Awesome and can't recommend FLexraid enough!
Cheers,

Just wish I had written down my complicated RAID-F quick-validate/validate/update schedule before upgrading. Now I have to recreate it from memory.

uhmm. What is it you're suppose to do?  I've never done that.

Record any schedules you have set up. Also any email settings. You have to uninstall the current version first before installing the new one, and those settings will be lost. There's probably other settings not saved, but those were the only ones I'd changed.

That's not correct. Uninstalling the prior version will not remove the settings which are stored in a configuration database (FlexRAID-Config.db).
If installing on a different OS install, all you have to do is backup and restore the FlexRAID-Config.db.
If your configurations were lost, see: http://wiki.flexraid.com/2013/03/09/help-why-is-my-configuration-is-gone-from-the-webui/
