FlexRAID tells me the Z drive is ready but is not.
« on: February 10, 2016, 04:16:27 pm »
I have 8 hard drives on a pooling configuration.

They are all linked at C:\DISKS\D1...C:\DISKS\D8.

Each disk has also a drive letter assigned.

When I press restart/publish, and after a little bit of processing it says "Operation Success: The Storate Pool started successfully on drive Z:..." but I don't ever see the Z drive on my PC.

¿Any ideas?

Regarding support, taken from the flexraid website:

The free standard support provided with FlexRAID products is:
  • Email sales support
  • Community forum technical support
  • Free updates within a major release

Paid premium support includes (applies per installation):

  • Email technical support
  • Chat technical support
  • Remote desktop technical support through Teamviewer
  • 24 hours or less response time
  • Free updates within a major release & Free upgrades between major releases

Basically, free support is as is, best effort with no guaranteed response times etc. There are some knowledgeable users here who may be able to help, unfortunately I'm using T-Raid so not in a position to advise.

Can you provide some screenshots of your storage pool configuration - particularly the runtime properties and all your unique volumes. And the storage pool merge configuration.

In general providing drive letters as well as using the preferred mounting scheme is not supported (ie accessing drives within the pool from outside the pool), so I'm unsure why you did both.

Sure, why not? If it seems FlexRAID's support couldn't care less since they already took my money! By the way, I already removed the drive letters from the drive and still the same problem. Thanks.

@kwanbis

As I pointed out in my earlier post:

You may or may not get a reply here from "flexraid" (as you put it), but under the standard support terms there is no obligation/requirement for them to answer you here; as it says, COMMUNITY forum technical support.

If in any doubt, please refer to http://flexraid.com/support/ for details of what support you are actually entitled to based upon what you have purchased.

I wrote to support@flexraid.com and I got a rejected email. How can I write to them?

I had a look at your setup and everything looks in order. The main difference with my setup is my filesystem is NTFS not FlexRAIDFS but I don't think that setting has any effect - it was put there for a future filesystem idea.

All you can really do is check your configuration. If you followed the Wiki guide you should have rebooted your system after you go the message the storage pool driver successfully installed. I'm assuming you did get that message.

Thanks. Yes, I rebooted my system many times. I'm still waiting for support to reply to me.

So finally they responded:

Hi Javier,

Unless you have paid support, your support level is community support.
So, please post to the forum with details of your issues.

Thanks.

So basically they are saying, we sell our product, but if it does not works, you are on your own.

WORST COMPANY EVER. I have requested a refund, as the software is not working I have no use for it.

Thanks to all who tried to help. And good luck if you ever encounter a problem.
