Reccommended Run time properties and raid engine
« on: October 08, 2011, 02:09:33 am »
q6600 @ 3.2GHz, 6GB ram, 7 DRUs @ 14tb and 1 PPU, win 64 bit.
what run time properties and raid engine would be best for me.
went for the 'optimised engine' for lack of better understanding.
i dont understand that NoCores+1 processes are recommended. or the effect of the rest of the run time properties.

You don't very need much optimization.  Q6600 is a powerful CPU even not overclock, I have one and I don't think you would ever max out it power anyway.  Your bottleneck will most likely be the bus bandwidth, especially if you use that CPU w/ onboard SATA.  So I say, it's safe to use the default of the latest FR and don't worry about it.  I rebuilt my new storage server even though I have that CPU because of the power usage, heat and loud fan.  So now I'm using slightly more powerful but use less power AMD A6-3500 instead.  It run much more quiet now.

The process=number of cores+1 meaning your Q6600 is 4 cores thus process should be 4+1=5.  Since you have only 1 PPU, you would be using either RAID5 equivalent, that's T1 or T1+.  I use T2+ w/ 2 PPU, so I guess T1+ would be for you.
