CentOS Mount --> Is This Safe?
« on: June 14, 2012, 11:11:02 am »
I have a storage pool created on a Windows machine and shared out on my network. Is it safe to mount it on a CentOS machine and read/write to the pool? It seems like an unwise idea for some reason.

mount -t cifs -o user,pass //192.168.0.99/Storage /mnt/fileserv

Why would that be unsafe?
Isn't that the point of network sharing a storage volume?

Yes and I don't know. I'm just afraid of messing it up somehow...

Thanks!
