Hello there Brahim,
i have just reinstalled my system on a fresh windows installation on a brand new ssd, i then installed FlexRaid Traid to bring back up my array but i can't seem to be able to connect to https://secure.flexraid.com for activation.

I have also emailed you at sales address to let you check out my purchase code.

Hope i can get this back up soon.

Thank You.

Hello there,
i'm using default windows 10 defender right now but i'm aiming on a more robust protection, there's any recommendation about using anti viruses on machines with tRAID configurations running?

Thanks

tRAID on Windows / Is it safe to upgrade to newest Windows 10 build (1511)?
« on: December 29, 2015, 02:32:45 am »
I am currently running latest tRAID off a Windows 10 build 10240 installation.

Is it safe to upgrade it to the latest build in subject?

Should i take some actions before doing it?

Thanks!

Hello there,
went on a mission in upgrading the whole home server.
I've deleted the array configuration and uninstalled transparent raid, deleted config db and everything traid related off c:\ to have a fresh install after upgrading.

Upgraded to win 10 without a single error and reinstalled latest version traid following to the letter the wiki.

Then I've created a new config and built the parity.

After parity creation I've started the array and I saw the transparent disks being installed by windows as usual, then it asked to reboot, after reboot I went on starting it again but it says he can't start storage pool with the following error:

Code: [Select]
[2015-09-14 07:50:05.173920][2984] [ERROR] [Create New Storage Pool] ErrorCode=31 Message=Mount error! Code=87 Message=The parameter is incorrect.
Also, at boot i get this in the web ui log:

I also disabled storage pool caching and set the removable to false but the error still persist.
Windows event viewer seems clean.

If I start it manually I get the same error.

Note that array is started and I can see transparent disks I just can't start the pool.

Any clue?

Hello there,
i am experiencing a strange behaviour on my Traid pool.

Config is attached and error too.

Basically once every 10 days or so, the scheduled verify+ task that i run nightly updates always the same 5 stripe blocks from the same range.

That recurring update sounds so strange to me, any clue?

Smart is fine and hdd's are okay as far as i can see.

tRAID Bug Reports / Can't register a new disk, program exception.
« on: May 16, 2014, 06:21:09 pm »
So, i went doing something i've already done a month ago, swapping 2x2Tb disks for 1x4Tb:

1) Stopped storage pool (not raid, only pool)
2) Assigned letters to transparent DRU's i wanted to copy over new disk.
3) Copied all the data from the 2 DRU's to the new hdd.
4) Stopped array (actually had to disable auto start and reboot because i could not stop it, he said he stopped it but hitting refresh showed it was still online)
5) Deleted raid
6) De-registered old dru's (DRU01 and DRU02)
7) Went registering new DRU (the 4Tb one) as DRU01 and the attached image popped up, log says the following:
[2014-05-17 01:02:40.441682][1836]      pWriteUpToByHandle error for handle=680, error=19, offset=17408, requested=512, written=0
[2014-05-17 01:02:40.443687][1836]      [ERROR] [pWriteByHandle] ErrorCode=19 Message=handle=000002A8 offset=17408 requested=512 written=-19 errorCode=19
8) WEB UI says its registered but i can't see it under Registered Disks.

I'm at version:
Home & Small Business License

OS: Microsoft Enterprise Edition (build 9200), 64-bit
Broker: 1.0.0 2014.03.18
Kernel: 1.0.0 2014.03.18

As a side note days ago i've had my C:\ ssd drive filled up, dunno if this could have done damages to the traid config db or whatever...

What i should do now?
Thanks

Hello there,
ran a full online Verify+ followed by an online full Verify Sync against my pool 2 days ago, i attach the reports.

Is that possible that those 115 4k Blocks (460Kbyte?) were updated because of one of my hdd's is silently corrupting data?

Overall things are working, minus those directory opus/teracopy copy/move errors i'm getting that i reported a while ago.

Now i'm running another full verify+ after the sync to see if things are ok.

Happy new year btw!

Regards
Astuni

Hello there,
i've noticed a small thing.

I'm used to Teracopy / Directory Opus to deal with my systems.
I've noticed that everytime i try to copy/move things from outside the pool into it with those programs it fails throwing these kind of errors to the log:

[2013-12-15 10:43:43.840049][3008]      [WARN]:[OnSetEndOfFile] SetLengthByHandle: error=87, msg=(null)
         \Film\Thor (2011) Bluray\Thor (2011).mkv -> [DRU12]::[Partition1]\Film\Thor (2011) Bluray\Thor (2011).mkv

The issue does not happen if i copy/move things to the pool using default windows explorer.

I'm on Windows 8, Teracopy and Dopus are @ their latest versions.

Many Thanks

tRAID Bug Reports / Verify Sync Fails (Scheduled)
« on: December 16, 2013, 03:14:33 am »
Hello there,

built the pool last week, working ok with no apparent problems, however, this morning after the first run of the scheduled job i've setup yesterday to verify Sync the array (100gb/run) i've got a FAIL notification email.

It seems it had to update some blocks, i wonder what that could be...

I've verified that the source disks are all offline, the transparent disks are all unmounted (no drive letter) the only volume accessible is the Traid Pool.

I also looked at SMART as Brahim suggested in another similiar post and i have 0 reallocated sectors count on all drives part of the traid array.

Any thoughts?

Overall i've got less than 2TB free off those HDD's

Empty Available HDD's
1 x 4TB ST4000DM000-1F2168-500
1 x 4TB ST4000DM000-1F2168-500

Content is exclusively media files (mkv's and some pics/mp3's) writes are limited basicly at new media adding, no editing.
Content is scraped through XBMC from clients for playback / indexing purpose.
The network is Gigabit.

If i do a single config using only 1 PPU (4TB) i will end up with a 35TB RAW pool.
Counting the formatted sizes / used space i will end up with 5.35 TB free space on that pool.

If i span my hdd's into 2 configs as follows:

1st Config. (18TB):
9 x 2TB DRU's
1 x 2TB PPU

2nd Config. (15TB):
1 x 3Tb DRU
3 x 4Tb DRU
1 x 4Tb PPU

I'll end up with 3.54 TB free space among the 2 pools.

I can't really decide between Traid or F-Raid and between a single huge config or 2 smaller (losing additional 2TB of free space).

What would you do in my case?

Many Thanks

Astuni
