RAID-F on Linux / Re: Another Upgrade another configuration fail
« on: April 21, 2016, 01:10:17 am »
cheers for reply , slowly making progress

worked for some and not for others

going to try again after flexraid de-installed so I can remove /root/FlexRAID-Managed-Pool nuked/class1_0
Folder
( I am just hoping I did not delete any files on HDD when I last tried deleting the folder I noticed my HDD lights light up light Christmas tree woops ) anyway to use PPU drive to compare file contents to replace missing files ?

when I removed drives from fstab it was mounting them their , but flexraid was still not picking them up , how ever if I unmounted and remounted some where I wanted it picked some of them up

wish I knew why its some drives when they all have the same settings ,,,

I know it worked with drives in fstab but that might have been added after it was all setup last time

I can not even try that because its not even picking up all the drives

even tho all are mounted and accessible and some picked up in the not pooled section ... but not showing in swap out section ...

RAID-F on Linux / Another Upgrade another configuration fail
« on: April 20, 2016, 01:33:17 am »
without starting from scratch again any idea how to repair the configuration

there are a few things just not making any sense

the HDD's should be mounted
/mnt/3tbHDD1DRU1
/mnt/3tbHDD2DRU2
/mnt/3tbHDD3DRU3
/mnt/3tbHDD4DRU4
/mnt/3tbHDD5DRU5
/mnt/3tbHDD6DRU6
/mnt/3tbHDD7DRU7
/mnt/3tbHDD8DRU8
/mnt/3tbHDD9PPU1
/mnt/3tbHDD10PPU2

but not only is flexraid picking them up as missing

but picks up the same drive multiple times in the not pooled section

and if I try and import from PPU that also does not work

how ever I had a little success finally got zfs raidz2 running
and retrieved some files from my 2015 HDD image backup
some of the drives are now picked up after copying
/root/FlexRAID-Managed-Pool/class1_0/

unfortunately I literally wiped my backup boot drive a few weeks ago
tho I do believe I have its image on my ZFS Raidz Drive which is currently broken also ... which is why I installed ubuntu 16.04 over my 14.04

if you could help guide me into any files I could retrieve from the backup ISO i will try it ( if i can get zfs running again ... )

19
seems to be just 14.10

I upgraded my backup drive all the way to latest 14.4 with today's packages  with 3.9 kernel and its flexraid running fine

20
actually I am now thinking it was do do with registration system
as soon as it gets registered that error pops up

Coping the FlexRAID-Config.db.bak has not been working either but the file size increases , but all the drives are still reported as missing
this is on a fresh 4.10 install using same fstab file

trying to Import from PPU has not worked either

how ever if i copy over the existing "FlexRAID-Managed-Pool" folder that contained all the HDD mount points flexraid created , the pool will mount even tho flexraid says no drives are detected

for now I consider my self lucky I never wiped last years SSD HDD , I will just clone it again and find the upgrade point where flexraid dies it might be 14.10 and 14.04 might still be ok

I think my database got corrupted

I kinda hacked up a working pool mount by using a mix of flexraid database files from a drive backup from Sep 2014

The storage pool starts , but the drive manager lists every drive as missing

I really need you to do something about TRaid and kernel incompatibilities as it seems I will have to rebuild this pool and would rather just migrate over to Traid

23
it might just be something old / bad upgrade from 14.04 thats causing it

I fired up virtual copy of Ubuntu 14.10 and it ran fine :S
*edit*
until registered

any idea's greatly appreciated

24
Yeh I know this .. I was posting it so they would make support for it  ???

pinning to an *OLD* kernel just so one program can run , no way in hell

this kernel has a lot of things I have been waiting on , but I really WANT 3.18

*edit*
I modified it to allow traid to install , seems to be working fine

Code: [Select]
if [ "$OS" = "DEBIAN" ]; then
if [[ ( $KERNEL_VERSION != *3.13.0-* ) ]]
then
echo "Unsupported kernel version detected! Detected $KERNEL_VERSION"
echo "Ubuntu/Debian supported kernels are 3.13.0-XX-generic where XX is 27 or greater"
exit 1
fi

to

Code: [Select]
[/if [ "$OS" = "DEBIAN" ]; then
if [[ ( $KERNEL_VERSION != *3.16.0-* ) ]]
then
echo "Unsupported kernel version detected! Detected $KERNEL_VERSION"
echo "Ubuntu/Debian supported kernels are 3.16.0-XX-generic where XX is 27 or greater"
exit 1
fi

but how could I do it to allow up to 3.19 ?
if [[ ( $KERNEL_VERSION != *3.19.0-* ) ]]
would not work
if [[ ( $KERNEL_VERSION != *3.**.*-* ) ]]
???

How ever sadly

Allright worked it out when they were built they were done only for 3.13 kernel variants  ( you do know we are up to v4 )

however what has got me is this kernel was built to ignore these errors

grep MODVERSIONS /boot/config-$(uname -r)

CONFIG_MODVERSIONS=y

Original
root@aio:/opt/traid/host/ko# modprobe --dump-modversions frouter.ko | grep module_layout
0xca05c877   module_layout

root@aio:/opt/traid/host/ko# modprobe --dump-modversions NZFSK.ko | grep module_layout
0xca05c877   module_layout

Modified
root@aio:/opt/traid/host# modprobe --dump-modversions frouter.ko | grep module_layout
0xb4792f37   module_layout

root@aio:/opt/traid/host# modprobe --dump-modversions NZFSK.ko | grep module_layout
0xb4792f37   module_layout

by modifying the module_layout hex code I can get one of them to load

root@aio:/opt/traid/host# ./NZFSB
insmod: ERROR: could not insert module frouter.ko: File exists
insmod: ERROR: could not insert module NZFSK.ko: Invalid parameters

What I do not get is why are you not using DKMS kernel modules ?
then they can rebuild themselves for each kernel update ?

i was running 14.04 but something broke during my last upgrade and I had to remove FlexRAID to finish upgrading because it said FleaxRAID wa going to cause a loop with grub for some reason

and another error was
insserv: warning: script 'FlexRAID' missing LSB tags and overrides

.. now I can not get FlexRAID running again

root@aio:/var/lib/flexraid# uname -a
Linux aio 3.16.0-31-generic #41-Ubuntu SMP Tue Feb 10 15:24:04 UTC 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

*edit* sorry forgotten to put it in the linux section

*edit*
currenlty forcing all packages to reinstall
if that fails
fresh install then re add all my packages ...
*edit*
it seems my "FlexRAID-Config.db" must have gotten corupted at some stage
is their anyway to manually edit it to be correct again ?
I am currently using an old "FlexRAID-Config.db" from an old SSD HD that was upgraded last year its kinda got the pool online

27
no the HDD was cached via virtualbox

I now have an problem that I can not load the OS again its stuck in an reboot loop when the NZFS drivers tries loading the config / drives system reboots

took me a bit to stop it loading , even when in safe mode / command prompt the uninstall script would not de install the drivers

think the error was something to do with not knowing what "sc" command was

Currently making a fresh OS install just for testing t-RAID with now

28
looks like screen cast delayed another day wasted 5 hrs trying to get an array done

now all I am getting is greyed out options regardless what I try

if not that webui  not loading on the local pc but loading on remote pc ...

how ever just as i started typing this it worked .. well to the point I recorded 20 mins of waiting for it to build array ...
i don't know why but 99.99% of the time i am looking at the  "Executing the requested action, please wait..."

NZFSWebUI.log
http://pastebin.com/wfMa4US4

currently waiting another 20+ mins after an reboot to continue ...

actually going to go to bed already 1 hrs past when i should have been sleeping ...

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B50790SVLE7jelJ2dHp4cGNhSkk/edit?usp=sharing

not much to see , I still need to record after the reboot

it seems ubuntu cached all the data and the virtualbox thought the HDD was still plugged in when it was in my hot little hands  downside to having 128 gig RAM on my main system thats running all the other OS's I use ...

29
My sinseriest Apologies

I forgotten windows now has built in firewalls by default  ::) ( I was too busy looking at routers I over looked that)

30
no firewalls installed , and get not work out how to do it locally either for now using teamviewer to keep an eye on dad's setup but would rather webui as he has dial up ...

I can acess from the same pc as the host / client is installed but not having much luck getting client to acess an host on another system
wether its on the local LAN or over the internet

should their be any reason i can not get the webui to work on port 8080 from another pc ? is their some rule that can be changed to allow other computers other than localhost to connect ?
